Adam Flowers, Tenor

Northern California native Adam Flowers is most recently reprised the role of Chevalier Des Grieux in Massenet's Manon for San Francisco's Pocket Opera in April of 2011. Mr. Flowers created the role of Lt. Worthing in Michael Taylor's new Opera A Truce of Carols in December of 2010 and 2011 with Mission City Opera. In July of 2010 her performed the role of Mario Cavaradossi in Puccini's Tosca at Phoenix Hall in Osaka, Japan. March 2010 found Adam in Fairfield, California where he portrayed Edgardo in North Bay Opera's production of Lucia di Lammermoor. He created the role of Paolo in Peter Joseff's chamber Opera, Inferno with Goat Hall Productions in June 2010 and made his company debut in the role of Pang in Puccini's Turandot at Festival Opera in July of 2009. He revisited his most frequently performed role, Roldolfo, in La Boheme for Sacramento Opera in May of 2009. In March of 2009, Adam assayed the titular role in Offenbach's Taled of Hoffmann with Berkeley Opera. October 2008 found Mr. Flowers in Houston, Texas where he performed the role of Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly for Opera in the Heights. He made his international debut as Alfredo in Verdi's La Traviata at the Musashino Kokkaido in Tokyo, Japan in July of 2008. He made his company debut with Hawaii Opera Theatre in the role of Tybalt in Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette in February of 2008. Mr. Flowers reprised the role of Rodolfo in Opera Idaho’s production of La Boheme in October of 2007. He performed his first Camille de Rosillon in Lehar’s The Merry Widow at West Bay Opera in May and June of 2007. Mr. Flowers was also one of ten finalists out of 140 entrants in the first annual Irene Dalis Vocal Competition in San Jose, CA in June of 2007. In March of 2007 he performed his second Ferrando in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte at Rimrock Opera in Billings, Montana. Critics and audiences alike praised his successful portrayal of Gherman in Tchaikovsky’s Pikovaya Dama at West Bay Opera in February 2007. Previous roles include Macduff in Verdi’s Macbeth at West Bay Opera in October of 2006 in Palo Alto, California. In June of 2006 he performed the roles of Lord Lechery, Interpreter and Mr. By-Ends and made his directorial debut in the West Coast premiere of Ralph Vaughan Williams' Pilgrim's Progress with Trinity Lyric Opera in Walnut Creek, California.

In July of 2006 Mr. Flowers completed a five year Artist-In-Residency for Opera San Jose in which he performed the roles of Rodolfo in Puccini's La Boheme, Don Ottavio in Mozart's Don Giovanni, Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte, Nemorino in L'Elisir D'Amore, Tamino in The Magic Flute, Faust in Faust, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Chevalier des Grieux in Manon, Fenton in Falstaff, Gustavo III in Verdi's Un Ballo in maschera, Judge Danforth in Ward's The Crucible, Erik in The Flying Dutchman, Don Jose in Carmen, Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca, Turridu in Cavalleria Rusticana, Nadir in The Pearl Fishers, Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, and Manrico in Il Trovatore.

Mr. Flowers performed for the tenor solo in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony for Winchester Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Parnassus and the Oakland/East Bay Symphony. He performed selections from The Magic Flute and was the featured tenor soloist in Mozart’s Requiem with Symphony Silicon Valley in March of 2006 under the baton of Maestro George Cleve. In 2002 and 2003 Mr. Flowers was the featured tenor soloist with the Midsummer Mozart Festival’s Mozart Requiem, under the baton of Maestro Cleve as well as featured soloist with the Stockton Symphony conducted by Maestro Peter Jaffe.

Mr. Flowers has been a full-time member of San Francisco Opera's Regular Chorus since April of 2010. Productions this season include Götterdämmerung, Turandot, Carmen, Don Giovanni, Xerxes, Lucrezia Borgia, and The Heart of a Soldier. In May 2011 he will perform the roles of Kaplan, Sankey and Dick McGann in the Oakland/East Bay Symphony's concert version of Weill's Street Scene.

Mr. Flowers completed his musical training at San Jose State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts and currently studies with Deborah Benedict.
